EAPC warmly welcomes the adoption of the 2024 EU4Health programme, announced earlier today by the European Commission.
We are particularly delighted to see the 2024 work programme further commit to the development of palliative care through:
- a dedicated 14.5 million euro towards paediatric palliative care
- a call to increase health literacy on cancer prevention and care which mentions specifically that low health literacy can negatively affect the use of palliative care and end-of-life services.

As a recipient of a Civil Society Organisation operating grant during 2023, EAPC has been able to highlight the importance of equitable, accessible palliative care for the European community. The news announced today is significant step towards the acheivement of this goal.
